U12 Training Program

Cape Ann’s FHC U12 training program is designed to focus on introducing beginners, novice & seasoned future field hockey stars to such an amazing game. Training sessions will cover elimination & defensive skills, How to move the ball through space with speed around defenders while keeping vision and awareness. Introducing the U12 teams to Local & Regional level competition through tournament play. Establishing a Youth Program in Cape Ann FHC is of highest priority as we are confident that our coaching can develop your son/daughter to new levels over the years.

Winter Travel Season

What to know...

We take pride in our Travel program we offer at Cape Ann FHC. This program is for the player who want to play FH year round, commit to a winning culture and learn how to grow into a leader, a team player and a confident hockey player. You will be asked to commit to our Travel program for the Winter, Spring & Fall (November-June; September-October)

If this is not something you can commit to due to time or financial constraints, or your goals don’t align with our Travel program, we encourage you to check out our Youth program instead, less commitment all around, yet the same hockey experience!

Our U12 Travel program overlaps with our Youth program. This is done on purpose, because there are different levels of commitments starting at the age group. If you are seeking a more in depth development at the team level, our U12 Travel program is the program to join.

The winter season will start with a selection November 10th, We will select 12 U12 players to represent our U12 program for the year. If for some reason you can’t make this, please email club Director Chris Pothier at CPothier@CapeAnnFHC.com. If you are not selected, you will be invited into our Youth  program that will be begin that following week of November 11th at various local locations.

What to Know...Travel Program
  • We want commitment but understand these players are 10-11 years old.
  • If you aren’t selected into our Travel teams, our Academy has added length to its seasons, optional tournaments & the same coaching staff!
  • We want players who strive to be the best, who will work hard even when no-one is looking.
What to Know...WINTER

This program is an amazing opportunity to join to top central mass club field hockey team. With that, comes dedication to becoming an elite level field hockey player & student athlete. You will be expect to commit to the Winter, & Spring.

  • Winter Selections – Nov 10
  • Winter Training – Nov 16th 1st session going through end of February. Expect ONE midweek & ONE Sunday session, a week.
  • Minimum of THREE tournaments per indoor team; only ONE U12 team (12 Players) will be selected, Cape Ann FHC Black
  • U12’s will attend the National Indoor Tournament  (NIT)
  • NIT is an additional fee to your Winter & Spring Membership since this isn’t a qualification tournament as it is for both 16’s and 19’s age groups.

What to Know....SPRING
  • 1st TWO sessions will be open selections for NEW or our Academy players
  • Spring begins 1st Sunday in April 2020 and goes through end of June
  • Spring Training – Expect ONE midweek & ONE Sunday session, a week.
  • Spring will breakdown to ONE 7-aside team Cape Ann FHC Black
  • Spring – U12 Black will attend THREE Youth Tournaments
  • Spring – U12 Black will join Cape Ann Youth League for their midweek sessions to compete in games.

What to Know....FALL
  • Fall begins Sunday after Labor Day weekend, goes through end of October 2020.
  • Our Fall U12 team will Train midweek and join the local Youth league as a team for Sunday play days.
